Poker Pros Understand Fold Equity
A level of online poker aggression that rarely gets discussed, but yet is quite prevalent and a large part of Texas Holdem poker games is fold equity.

Black Friday Saves One Player’s Money & Relationship
published on 04/23/11 at 8:54 am One person who will be saving money after Black Friday, is Steve “Street3” Carse. Known to have wasted thousands of dollars on online poker sites, the recent federal take over of Full Tilt Poker will have a positive effect on Mr. Carse’s financial statements. Angel Valdez, of the Online Poker Team, fires some questions at Oklahoma’s number one degenerate. How much money have you saved since Online poker got shut down?I transferred my last $80 on FTP to Angel to bet on black at the casino. He informed me that I lost. So, I would have naturally deposited another $50 and in turn, ran that up to around $55, then lost it all. Then I would have reloaded again. I would guess since Friday, I have saved around $450. But, since I don’t have online poker anymore, i am extremely bored and have since spent over $1500 on various illegal endeavors. Those intruders in their homes have names? Some call them Kids, and others call them Mom/Dad/Honey…Honestly I am scared to death about what this question means and wonder how much meth the interviewer has inhaled to come up with such a psycho question. I live with my girlfriend Kelly and I have not seen any intruders in my home. When they stepped outside did the sun melt off their skin? Did they get the vampire effect?Again, another scary question that makes about as much sense as a gaggle of coked up geese selling cookies to gimps. Is their ability to make money playing online poker myopia equal to lets say Charlie Sheen thinking he’s normal?I don’t know what myopia means and I’m too fucking lazy to google it. Charlie Sheen has Goddesses, cocaine, no teeth and millions of dollars. I have Kelly, teeth and tens of dollars. You tell me. Why is chicke nmeth so addictive, especially among online poker players?A bit of history, Chicken meth was introduced in Arkansas by Jeremy Allen. It’s a combination of meth, chicken shit and feathers. It gives one the ability to 5bet shove 73o into AA and see a 773 flop. Or at least that’s what chicken meth benders will trick your mind into seeing. On the evolutionary poker scale, where would you place IBGPN?I would place him at the bottom of the scale. Somewhere between a single celled organism and tadpole. While he can swim with the sharks, he’s often overlooked as his bank roll rarely goes above the $1 mark. His most frequent sightings have the word (OBSERVER) after his name. I just had a cup of tea and a grilled cheese sandwich. Comments? You must be gay or British.

Strategy with Kristy: Mike Watson Discusses Playing Big Stacks
December 09 2011, Kristy Arnett Related Articles Strategy with Kristy: Randal Flowers Discusses Bluffing Preflop Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Amanda Musumeci Discusses WSOP Main Event Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Ben Wilinofsky Discusses Short-Stack Strategy Related Players Share It Tags Tournament Strategy, South Point, PokerNews Podcast, Mike Watson, Poker Player Interviews Print Mike Watson, also known as “SirWatts,” has accumulated more than $4 million in tournament winnings and is also one of the most respected high-stakes no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha players online. For this edition of Strategy with Kristy, brought to you by South Point, Watson discusses the strategy behind playing a big stack in a no-limit hold’em tournament. Here is a snippet from the interview: If you’re at a table with a player who’s good and has a big stack, how do you combat them? I mean, it’s a very difficult situation obviously. That’s the nightmare scenario in a tournament. Ideally you have position on them, but if you’re out of position, sometimes you have to tighten up a little bit. You might open-fold some of the speculative hands you’d usually try to pick up some chips with. If they’re going to give you trouble and three-bet you a lot, there’s not much you can do. All you can do is come up with a balanced strategy against them. You’re going to have to four-bet as a bluff sometimes. If they’re really over-aggressive, you might be looking to four-bet light for value hoping to induce them to spew. Sometimes, you can even take flops against them even though you’re out of position and try to outplay them postflop. They might be less comfortable in a postflop game. Players have to learn how to adapt, and for those who came up when no one was really playing that aggressive preflop, learning to four-bet as a bluff can be scary. I think it’s hard for players to integrate these types of plays into their game. Yeah definitely. I used to always be a very tight player, I think most people would say. That’s definitely stuff I used to be uncomfortable putting into my own game. Once you look at the game and break it down to a more theoretical level, you realize you just have to do stuff like that. These are plays that just have to be in your arsenal because it’s the only way to effectively combat the increased aggression of other players.

Double Challenge Jackpot Is Over $5,000
Posted by Bradley, December 29, 2011 More and more players are playing the nightly Double Challenge tournaments, competing not only for their share of the prize money but also for a chance to win the Double Challenge Progressive Jackpot, which a few days ago passed $5,000. At this moment, the jackpot stands at $5,179.50. Three times in the last week the number of players participating in the tournaments set a new record, and this only serves to boost the jackpot even faster. Buy-ins to the Double Challenge tournaments, one staged at 21:35 GMT and the other staged at 21:40, are $1 + $1, with the first dollar going to the tournament prize pool and the second dollar being added to the progressive jackpot. A player who manages to win both Double Challenges on the same night wins not only the regular prize money but also the jackpot as well. The Double Challenge jackpot was last won on September 17th, when “Burbon11″ from Spain captured a $2,170 prize. The jackpot previously passed $5,000 in May when “Jcambi” from Argentina won the all-time record Double Challenge jackpot prize of $5,356. That record will most likely be broken before the next time a player succeeds in winning both of the nightly tournaments.

The strategy to shut down Full Tilt Poker stolen from Jack Abramoff’s playbook
This article is a writers political view or opinion and submitted content and does not entirely represent pokerbloggs.com Poker Domain Seizures Part 4 “The strategy to shut down Full Tilt Poker stolen from Jack Abramoff’s playbook” Jack Abramoff Photo Image Jack Abramoff is the most famous lobbyist of all time. Why am I bringing his name up on a poker blog? Well, I’ve been doing a serious of articles exposing corruption at the highest levels of Washington DC and Las Vegas: Domain Seizures Part 3Domain Seizures Part 2Domain Seizures Part 1 addendumDomain Seizures Part 1 Unlike most people who are begging for regulation of online poker, I’m doing the opposite. I will not beg to government officials to do what I want in privacy of my own home (as long as I’m not hurting anyone). The wool is being pulled over the whole online poker community by the NFL, Caesars/Wynn, Fair Play USA, and the PPA. These companies are using the masses of online poker players to beg congress to legalize something that is not illegal in the first place. Eric Holder himself could not say whether it was game of skill or not in front of a senate DOJ over site committee: He is quoted as saying “beyond my capabilities” and “Do you think Phil Ivey is just lucky, he is the world’s greatest poker player?” asked Democratic Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee. “I am not sure I know who Phil Ivey is, but I am sure there is some degree of skill that is involved, some degree, I am not a poker player myself,” Holder replied. The reason I’m bringing up Jack Abramoff and Eric Holder is that they were both lobbyist for major DC firms. They both stifled competition to benefit their clients. In the case of Eric Holder, he went from making $2 million a year for Covington and Burling to $150,000 as Attorney General. And now all of his former clients are benefiting??? Jack went to jail for 3 and 1/2 years and Eric Holder is in one of the highest positions of the US Government. But one could argue that Frank Fahrenkopf (American Gaming Association lobbyist for Caesars) would be more comparable to Jack. Frank and Jack are/were both beloved Republicans with ties to the very top (Bush Family). Both are/were lobbyists that worked for the casino industry. both fought bills prohibiting online gambling and both used influence to stifle competition for their clients, and both funneled money to congress representatives to pass their initiatives. Jack has reevaluated lobbying in his new book Capitol Punishment: The Hard Truth About Washington Corruption From America’s Most Notorious Lobbyist Amazon.com Widgets He writes “it continues today, unabated by reform campaigns or public ire at the Congress.” “Most of these legislators had taken thousands of dollars from my clients and firms, and now they were sitting as impartial judges against me. Washington hypocrisy at its best,” “I know that, barring a torch and pitchfork uprising, no real changes will occur.” “the lure of post-public service lobbying employment needs to be eliminated,” “If you chose to serve in Congress or on a congressional staff, you should be barred for life from working for any company, organization, or association which lobbies the federal government. “ Jack spent 3 and 1/2 years in jail for fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy to bribe public officials. The only problem is that this sort of thing is going on as we speak. Jack had committed conspiracy to bribe public officials to shut down Indian Casinos. He later would bilk them out of millions to persuade congress to let them open up again. Jack and his partner Michael Scanlon attempted to bilk (Jack would most likely disagree with this term) the Native Americans out of 85 million dollars. He still claims to have done the Indians a favor because of the millions they reaped after his services. The most incredible similarity I found between Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon’s scandal and the online poker seizures is that of Sun Cruz Casinos. This is almost identical to the attack on online poker and specifically Full Tilt Poker. You see, Sun Cruz was the “internet poker” of the time so to speak. It eluded the regulation of the brick and mortar cartel of casinos in the USA that is funded by Michael Milken. Something had to be done to keep the kleptocracy going, so using their influence in congress, Jack Abramoff used his friends at Americans for Tax Reform to funnel money to Rep. Bob Ney and others to apply pressure to shut down Konstantinos “Gus” Boulis and his SunCruz Casinos. This is not unlike Covington and Burling attaching bills in the middle of the night to port security bills or using their shill Eric Holder to confiscate online poker domains. In my opinion, American International Center LLC (a company that was set up by Abramoff and Michael Scanlon) is not unlike Fair Play USA. Fair Play USA is a fake grass roots organization or “Astro-turf” company financed by Caesars Entertainment. They act to influence lawmakers just as Ralph Reed did for Jack Abramoff’s benefit. They also ask poker players to call their congressman, write letters, etc etc. So if they were ever exposed as what they are they could say “you asked for regulation”. Here is one of Fair Play USA principles rovide tools to crack down on unlicensed foreign operators who do not comply with U.S. law; removing U.S. banks as the enforcers under UIGEA and empowering law enforcement to shut down illegal operators. This is simply Caesars paying ex Homeland Security Tom Ridge and Ex FBI Louis J. Freeh to use their buddies to wipe out (or lower the price of) Full Tilt Poker. SunCruz Casinos forced into bankruptcy even though they were highly lucrative business More similarities exist between SunCruz and Full Tilt Poker’s shut down…. Jack Abramoff was an attorney at Greenberg Traurig and was used to seek a buyer for the troubled SunCruz Casinos. Jeff Ifrah is Full Tilt Poker Attorney and was an attorney at Greenberg Traurig and is helping facilitate deal for buyer for Full Tilt Poker. Jeff is still a shareholder at Greenberg. Instead of keeping his fiduciary duties of getting his client out of trouble, Jack teamed up with a shady character named Adam Kidan. Adam Kidan would be the buyer for SunCruz Casinos if he had the cash. He didn’t have all the cash and committed fraud to produce a fake wire transfer of $23 million. One could compare Kidan to Bernard Tapie.Bernard Tapie PhotoBernard Tapie is the shady French character that is looked to as the savior for the Full Tilt Sale. Adam Kidan and Bernard Tapie both have shady past, both didn’t have the money on their own, and both are front men. So lets get a little refresher course: Bob Ney = Jon KylAdam Kidan = Bernard TapieCaesars/Wynn/Milken = The MoneyFair Play = Ralph ReedSunCruz / Indian Casinos = Full Tilt PokerJeff Ifrah = Huge billing like Jack had at GreenbergRay Bitar = Konstantinos “Gus” BoulisAGA Frank J. Fahrenkopf = Jack AbramoffHarry Mason Reid = Tom Delay Adam Kidan Photo Adam Kidan would end up getting stabbed multiple times by Konstantinos “Gus” Boulis when he tried to push Gus out of the business. Konstantinos Boulis would later be murdered after the attack and subsequent sale falling into disarray. Three members of the Gambino crime family were arrested for the professional hit on Boulis. $250,000 was traced by investigators from Kidan to the mobsters. Kidan claimed the money was for catering and security and investigators believed him. Anthony Moscatiello and fellow hitmen Konstantinos Boulis the owner of SunCruz Casinos and founder of Miami Subs Full Tilt Poker is like a resource rich Indian Reservation with casinos or a profitable International Cruise Line casino multiplied by 10. All of the issues it has with money is a result of the UIGEA which was attached by a lobbyist for the NFL. The NFL has future gambling initiatives and is really influenced by the Rooney family which owns the Steelers and Casinos up and down the east coast. The UIGEA was tailored to the Rooneys for their Horse tracks and Poker Rooms. When Full Tilt Poker aligned with stations casinos, it was a threat to the Caesars/Wynn/NFL cartel on future online gambling. The members of TWO PLUS TWO are going to have to come to realize that they are being used by lobbyist to pressure legislators on bills that will restrict their freedoms and cost them money down the road. Amazon.com Widgets I’m saying it now: Two Plus Two is being used just like Focus on Family was to email congress and make phone calls. This will only benefit a future Caesars/Wynn/Milken online gambling monopoly. I believe the whole strategy to shut down Full Tilt Poker was taken directly from Jack Abramoff’s lobbyist playbook. I believe he is more relevant than ever. He even admits in his sixty minutes interview that lobbying (in it’s current form) is bribery and nothing less: 60 Minutes InterviewAbramoff: I think people are under the impression that the corruption only involves somebody handing over a check and getting a favor. And that’s not the case. The corruption, the bribery, call it, because ultimately that’s what it is. That’s what the whole system is. Stahl: The whole system’s bribery? Abramoff: In my view. I’m talking about giving a gift to somebody who makes a decision on behalf of the public. At the end of the day, that’s really what bribery is. But it is done everyday and it is still being done. The truth is there were very few members who I could even name or could think of who didn’t at some level participate in that. So is Jack Abramoff truly for more regulations against lobbyist? Has jail given him time to think? Or, is he simply working some new angle for a return to politics or main stream media? I really don’t know but I would like to think he changed while he was in prison and is exposing corruption for the good of the American people. I’m going to give him the benefit of doubt unless he proves me wrong.

PKR Adds Jake Cody to Their Team
Jake Cody is the most recent poker player to be added to the PKR’s team of players that they sponsor. Cody is a triple crown winning poker star who has won over $3 million playing poker. He is only 22 years of age, making him one of the most accomplished players of poker in the world. He recently won a World Series of Poker bracelet to his accomplishments, and had won the World Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour before that. Not only has this young poker player won this triple crown accomplishment, he managed to do so within 520 days. Doing this well in poker tournaments in such a short space of time, and at such a young age is unprecedented in the poker world. When starting out with online poker playing, Cody only deposited $10, from which he grew a bankroll and ultimately it turned into his incredible fortune. Cody will now be representing PKR in some of the biggest and most popular poker tournaments worldwide. On Sunday night, he will be playing on the PKR website for the first time as a member of the PKR team. He will be playing two Bounty Day tournaments. “I’m very excited about joining Team PKR Pro” said the new Team PKR member, Jake Cody. “I’ve been patient with sponsorship, waiting for the right deal to come along. When I spoke to PKR I was really impressed with the whole setup and the ideas that they have going forward, and I knew straight away I wanted to be part of it! It’s a great site to be involved with right now and I think I can help take it to the next level.” The PKR Marketing Director, Simon Prodger, welcomed Cody to the team and explained that PKR is “really excited that PKR’s players will have the opportunity to interact with Jake and benefit from his insight and experience.” Related Posts Mobile Poker from PokerStars Available in Italy Marrakech is Next Stop of WPT Heinz Wins the WSOP The United States and Online Poker Regulation Two New Poker HOF Members Announced Share on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace…

Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Jared Bleznick
November 17 2011, Kristy Arnett Related Articles Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Lex Veldhuis Discusses Pot-Limit Omaha Strategy with Kristy: Randal Flowers Discusses Bluffing Preflop Strategy with Kristy: Andrew Seidman Discusses His Book, Easy Game Share It Tags Black Friday, Jared Bleznick, Omaha, PokerNews Podcast, Poker Strategy, South Point, PokerNews Strategy Print Jared “harrington25″ Bleznick was a prominent figure in online tournaments and cash games before Black Friday. He has since moved out of the country to play but recently said he will no longer be playing online. Instead, he’s offered his services as a coach. For this edition of Strategy with Kristy, brought to you by South Point, Bleznick talks about what it takes to be poker professional, beginner pot-limit Omaha strategy, and advice he has for those considering making poker a career. Here is a snippet from the interview: As a no-limit hold’em player, I understand when to three-bet preflop, but in pot-limit Omaha, it seems like players are getting in buy-ins so frequently. So I guess my question is, what are you considering when three-betting in pot-limit Omaha? To talk about what you first said about players getting it in by three-betting and four-betting preflop — that’s honestly because everyone literally just has a gambling problem. I’m being serious. Everyone just gambles in Omaha because the edges are so small in any individual hand. If you take eight-nine-ten-jack double-suited and you put it up against ace-ace-two-six with a suit, you’re basically a very small dog. When you take into account the blinds and the dead money, you’re basically flipping. Let’s say a guy is playing with $200,000 in his account and another guy is playing with $20,000. The guy that’s three-betting with eight-nine-ten-jack [with $200,000 in his account] is eventually going to bust you because you’re flipping and the guy has you covered with his bankroll. As for the three-betting, I think you should be three-betting a lot more when you’re deeper. It allows for a lot more play. If you three-bet a guy that has 100 big blinds, and he four-bets you with aces, at the point, you’re not even playing poker anymore. You’re just gambling. If you do it when you’re really deep, you can actually play poker. These guys that do that and three-bet and four-bet and constantly get it in are literally putting their money in and closing their eyes. It’s just stupid, honestly. When I say the games are tough, it’s because the edges are small. So even if a guy is doing that, he’s never in that bad a shape. It’s not like in hold’em where you’re getting it in in a 80/20 or 70/30 situation. You’re getting it in at like 55/45. A lot of people can’t overcome that.
